Systems Architect/Engineer - required for this major new defence/security programme - The Architecture Engineering roles work within the Architecture Engineering team of the Solutions Design IPT. There are a number of roles at various experience levels from System Architect to supporting database architecture systems engineers. There will be significant customer exposure, through formal project meetings and working groups and so candidates must be comfortable with collaborative working to develop an overall solution. The Architecture Engineers will be responsible to the Technical Lead on the programme.

Systems Architect/Engineer - required for this major new defence/security programme - The Architecture Engineering roles work within the Architecture Engineering team of the Solutions Design IPT. The Architecture Engineers will be responsible to the Technical Lead on the programme.
The Architecture Team:
Works closely with the requirements team and the customer/user to ensure that the program understands the project needs. Prepares a detailed architecture description of the system. Performs system level requirements validation with requirements team interaction. Documents the lower level design definition using appropriate tools. Acquires lower level products and supports sub-system engineering reviews throughout the acquisition lifecycle. Update architecture design based on changing requirements. Develop and implement databases meeting functional and system requirements. Also develop security architecture and disaster recovery architecture. Allocate database system storage and planning requirements. Maintain database integrity. Perform advanced database administration tasks. Establishes strong relationships with the programmes customer, key stakeholders, Subcontractors, and US counterparts. Ensures that all engineering activities undertaken under their control are conducted to a common standard that reflects best practice, and are in accordance with CMMI as instantiated in company IPDS.
The Architecture Engineer will be educated to Degree level in Scientific or Engineering discipline; experience of Systems Architect tasks on at least one major programme; good years experience in IS architecture design and solution implementation, strong professional experience as Systems Engineer with full lifecycle coverage; experience of NEC, DODAF/MODAF and UK Government or MOD procurement practices.
Specific underlying technologies: Oracle database, BEA middleware stack (weblogic, aqualogic, data services), Red Hat linux, Java, DOORS, Enterprise Architect. A second degree in relevant subject; experience of EVMS and its application to major proposals would be desirable.

Those with experience in some of the following areas will be considered:
Deep understanding of the Systems Engineering lifecycle, and demonstrable application of relevant methodologies and toolsets; Proven and successful track record in design and delivery of systems for major database intensive, system integration programmes; Architectural design in database intensive systems;
Definition to low level product definition; Developing system and subsystem architectural artefacts; Development of advanced database architectures;
Knowledge and application of:
COTS IS applications; Portal & UI design; High Availability Design (24/7 year round); Travel Industry Knowledge; Business Acumen for Business Development Support;
