Description
To undertake a full range of Synthetic Environments activities, including the development and maintenance of the SE Toolset, and its deployment to major programmes.
Plan, control and deliver assigned projects or work packages, and make an input as required to cross functional projects/investigations, ensuring requirements are delivered to plan
Participate fully in developing, maintaining and modifying engineering processes and procedures in assigned areas in response to technical developments and operational need
Carry out a full range of technical analyses and investigations, including evaluation and selection of technical options, and prepare reports with suggested recommendations to support the resolution of problems and the improvement of engineering capability
Prepare a full range of specifications, develop designs in line with specifications and all quality and technical standards, and carry out design appraisals in assigned area to ensure all standards are maintained
Carry out investigations into a full range of problems, issues or developments and develop and prepare solutions, individually or as a member of a project team.
Define testing approaches and specify tests in assigned/specialist area(s) and evaluate and make recommendations based on results, including making suggestions to improve test/diagnosis processes
Provide effective support to customers in assigned areas, delivering solutions to meet the customers needs and requirements
Keep up to date in relevant technical areas, develop skills and capabilities to be able to provide more effective services (seeking and sharing good practice and knowledge to continuously improve practices), and supply technical support and expertise to others as required
Make engineering decisions within own sphere of responsibility and delegated authority
Provide help and direction to less experienced team members to support both their effective working and their development
Skills and Knowledge
Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline
Substantial practical experience in Synthetic Environments & software engineering core skills: : C++, C, C#, .NET, SQL and graphics
Good verbal and written communication skills
Analytical and problem solving skills
Able to work on own initiative & mentor others
Good team member
A flexible and adaptable approach
Proven knowledge of company processes
Commercial and financial awareness
Understanding of business strategy
Economics
Be able to manage task packages of varying size (150K)
Be able to coordinate graduates and Level 3 engineers in support of Team Leader
Successful candidates will be required to be security cleared prior to appointment.
