Supplier Improvements Engineer (Castings & Forgings) is required for this leading aerospace supplier to manage, plan and co-ordinate the casting process for the current Spares supply chain and assist in the development of the long-term casting methodology. Utilise Continuous Improvement techniques to further develop the casting and forging supply chain.

Supplier Improvements Engineer (Castings & Forgings) is required for this leading aerospace supplier to manage, plan and co-ordinate the casting process for the current Spares supply chain and assist in the development of the long-term casting methodology. Utilise Continuous Improvement techniques to further develop the casting and forging supply chain.
You will be responsible for the introduction of new tooling into the supply chain environment. Plan the execution of manufacturing introduction and release to production acceptance. Manage the supply of production castings to the design & approvals teams. Prepare tooling budgets for existing projects. Ensure compliance with both time scales and budget commitments. Manage the spares suppliers to ensure the successful manufacture of casting batches. Analysis of designs to ensure DFM & DFA criteria is met. Write process FMEA. Have a full working knowledge of all casting, forging and machining techniques. Understand the lifecycle of mechanical components, their sources and lead-times. Challenge conventions in order to ensure continuous improvements. Define supplier objectives, review performance and initiate corrective action where necessary. Support the spares buyers with technical issues relating to the supply of castings, forgings and final machined products. Represent the spares team with technical supply information at customer reviews.
You will be educated to HNC or above with proven experience in mechanical manufacturing and casting production. A thorough understanding of mechanical / casting products, operations and functions. An ability to produce concise reports and effective presentations. Considerable knowledge of casting and forging techniques. An ability to manage the delivery performance of external suppliers. Be able to communicate effectively at all levels. Have a good understanding of manufacturing control and information systems.
