A large Aerospace manufacturing company are looking for supplier development engineers to assist with supply chain selection and improvement. The supplier development engineer should be well versed in problem solving, engineering techniques and ensuring quality cost and time constraints can be fulfilled
Job Summary:
With an increasing bought-in content, the need to have focussed activity on developing / improving our supply base is becoming more critical to the success of the business.
The Supplier Development Engineers role is to have concentrated effort on a small number of suppliers at any point in time, working closely with the supplier to bring about a step change in their Quality, Cost or Delivery performance.
These roles work alongside Commodity Managers, Supplier Quality Engineers and Manufacturing Engineers; as-well as Module Management.
The teams role will also encompass roll out of SC-21.
Due to the nature of the position, applicants must be willing to travel on a regular basis.
Experience required
Practical application of process improvement / lean techniques
Experience in conducting root cause problem solving workshops and coordinating improvement actions
Proven ability in measuring and understanding the capability of processes and coordinating activities to improve
Practical and theoretical knowledge of various processes (E.g. treatment processes, machining, electrical and mechanical assembly, etc.)
Experience in holding commercial discussions with suppliers. Understanding of how product costs are created and how they can be affected
Ability to successfully interact with all levels of a business
Experience in aerospace industry preferred, but not essential
Qualifications required
HNC minimum
Degree in Engineering or Manufacturing preferred
