Description
The role will be to undertake structural optimisation tasks in support of optimisation methods and tools development and in support of optimisation research activities.
The role will also require a degree of program support work solving specialist structural optimisation tasks to identify innovative/lightweight design solutions.
Structural Optimisation Engineer
The role will be to undertake structural optimisation tasks in support of optimisation methods and tools development and in support of optimisation research activities.
The role will also require a degree of program support work solving specialist structural optimisation tasks to identify innovative/lightweight design solutions.
Essential:
Engineering Degree with high math content
Engineering degree with computational content
In-depth understanding of numerical optimisation techniques, including understanding of their use for solving engineering problems.
Good software development experience programming in Fortran, C or C++.
Good understanding of structural engineering and stressing.
Knowledge of the use of composite materials.
Basic understanding of aeronautical structures.
Demonstrated relevant technical engineering experience.
Good working knowledge of UNIX working environment essential.
Use of FE Analysis software
Use of optimisation analysis software
Use of MS Office software
Desirable:
Experience using finite element analysis optimisation tools such as MSC/Nastran or Altair/Optistruct.
Experience using optimisation framework systems.
Working knowledge of Unix computer systems .
Working knowledge of MS Office utilities.
Competencies:
Mathematical modelling, numerical calculations, detailed analysis.
