Fresh opportunity for a ship structures engineer to join the aircraft carrier project.

Structural Engineer for Change Control will report to the Team Leader for 'Whole-ship' Integration / Build Yard Support and in turn to the Structural Engineering Manager.
You will be required to undertake engineering work with regard to 'whole-ship' integration issues, in particular with regards to maintaining structural integrity and assessment of design changes.

Structural Engineer for Change Control will report to the Team Leader for 'Whole-ship' Integration / Build Yard Support and in turn to the Structural Engineering Manager.
You will be required to undertake engineering work with regard to 'whole-ship' integration issues, in particular with regards to maintaining structural integrity and assessment of design changes.

Knowledge of ship design not mandatory, however experience regarding behaviour and integration of structure is essential.
Experience of naval and / or commercial shipbuilding practice beneficial.
Ability to develop optimal design solutions taking into account numerous factors, for a wide variety of structural issues.
The job involves ongoing process development and liaison with other teams, hence a proactive and innovative approach, along with good communication skills are required.
Understanding of 2D scantling plans and 3-D CAD models is also needed.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

Impact assessment and resolution any issues arising from design changes raised outside of the structures team (GA team etc.).

Creating and checking documentation, and review of structural design change proposals raised by the structures team.

Managing design change information and communication of required information to relevant parties (other department reviewers, Build Yards, Scantling Team, CAD Modellers etc.).

Liaison with the data control managers to facilitate smooth processing of changes through the Project Change Management Approval Process.

Task scantling drafters to create drawing information to support changes as required.

Coordination and auditing of implementation of the design changes into the scantling plans and 3D CAD model.

Other Wholeship Integration / Build Yard Support tasks and hand calculations as assigned by the 'Whole-ship' Integration / Build Yard Support Team Leader (regarding scantling plans, 3-D model support, build and through life issues etc.).

Liaison with other Structures Teams, Stage 2 Structural Liaison Engineers, Stage 1/2 Teams and other disciplines as appropriate.

Liaison with engineers undertaking work at other sites (possibly involving travel within the UK).

Ensure 'Whole-ship' Integration / Build Yard Support Team Leader and Structures Technical Lead are made aware of any issues / implications due to design changes.

Timely and accurate completion of work allocated by the 'Whole-ship' Integration / Build Yard Support Team Leader.

Attendance at relevant working group meetings representing the interests of the Structures Team in area of expertise.
