Structural Engineer for Scantling Development will report to the Team Leader for Scantling Development and in turn to the Structural Engineering Manager.
As a Structural Engineer he or she will be required to undertake engineering work with regard to the development of the platforms scantlings and structural arrangement in accordance with the project teams policies and Lloyd's Register's Rules and Regulations for the Classification of Naval Ships for the development of scantlings plans, weight estimates, 3-D model, etc.
Key Accountabilities /Deliverables:
- Developing structural definition through Rule and first principles determination of scantlings.
- Liaison with engineers undertaking work at other sites (possibly involving travel within the UK).
- Liaison with Lloyd's Register, largely through a Lloyd's Register seconde embedded within the structures team.
- Ensure Scantling Development Team Leader and Draughting Main Contact are made aware of any issues / implications due to design changes.
- Timely and accurate completion of work allocated by the Scantling Development Team Leader.
- Progress reporting to the Scantling Development Team Leader.
- Working closely with draughtsmen to ensure scantling plans are updated with correct scantling revision.
- Attendance at relevant working group meetings representing the interests of the structures team in area of expertise.
