Overview
You take responsibility for the development and implementation of global supply chain strategy which can delivery low cost and inventory levels, yet can improve customer satisfaction by delivering a world class services adhering to on time delivery, lead time and quality metrics.

Responsibilities:

Handling an specific commodity group, you will develop and lead the implementation of a global supply chain strategy to provide materials support to the company business in the UK and Overseas adhering to costs, make/buy, quality and lead times
Work with other companies in the group to negotiate and drive through reduced costs with suppliers
Take an overview of current supply chain. Work to rationalise the current base. This will be achieved by working with current suppliers, other companies within the group, and source new suppliers from overseas to achieve the end result of cost savings and a tighter leaner supply chain
Keep an active approach to any material related issues worldwide ie new products etc
Set up and support strategic teams to work closely with suppliers to improve quality through design, costs and lead times
Initiative Make or Buy principals by working closely with engineering teams, and then sourcing relevant suppliers
Contantly review supply chain to maintain a continuous flow of products to the sites, which will involved high leve materials planning issues
Obtain competitive bids, analyze costs and negotiate/award contracts to vendors on the basis of total costs to the company commensurate with financial risks, quality standards, and delivery capabilities.
Ensure work is carried out to the comapies Operational Excellence focus, lead Value Stream Mapping and Kaizen events that will eliminate waste and result in significant benefits
Drive continuous improvement in the supply base by communicating objective performance metrics, focused on lead time reduction, on-time delivery improvement, quality improvement, and cost reduction.
Provide effective support to new product introduction teams, proposal development and subcontracting opportunities as they develop.



QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

Degree level with a Minimum of 3 years experience in a Supply Chain related role, gained within either an engineering or manufacturing environment
Excellent proven negotiation and contract management skills.
Proven experience monitoring supplier processes and performance metrics.
Direct experience implementing lean concepts (Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen Leadership, 5S, etc). Lean/Six Sigma certification (black belt or green belt) is desired.
Prior experience implementing a full system/kanban approach to component flow.
Significant global sourcing experience.
Excellent analytical, problem solving/decision making skills; ability to make timely, effective, fact based decisions. Includes a strong working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and scheduling software.
Strong interpersonal skills and analytical skills. Able to demonstrate decision making and problem solving initatives gained in multifunctional teams in a dynamic work environment.

The ability to travel in the UK and overseas

Certification in CIPS is highly desired
