Steelwork Team Leader required for a major UK Shipbuilding company.
Applications are invited for a Team Leader within the Steelwork department. Team Leaders provide leadership, guidance and support to production staff and are the core of the operations management team. The higher level of production activity through the facility in the near future means that the strength of this team needs to be increased by a number of Team Leaders in Halls A and B and the Hotwork department.
In these roles you will be required to enable a team to achieve work programmes on time, within budget and to the requisite quality standards. You will also create conditions in which the entire team can develop to become the best they are able to be and so operate at the highest level possible. A high emphasis will be placed on the ability to create and maintain a positive open and interactive culture that will be based on trust and independence.
You will be required to:
- Be responsible for the Health and Safety of your team and their environment, ensuring the correct PPE is worn at all times
- Liaise with your Manger and other Team Leaders to plan workload, ensuring the correct number of staff are available to meet demand
- Attend daily and weekly production meetings reporting information to the management team on work package status, time to completion and hours spent
- Attend weekly budget meetings providing analysis on budgetary performance
- Coordinate with other Team Leaders to ensure work packages are completed and delivered on time and to budget
- Operate independently by making decisions based on facts and data, as well as being an effective team player
- Organise data capture as required
- React to the analysis of captured data by finding and implementing solutions to the most critical problems
- Organise overtime shifting as appropriate
- Target individuals to meet expectations in all areas of the job, taking ownership for individual's sickness, absenteeism and work performance
- Carry out and supervise all activities required for self certification and any QA procedures as appropriate
- Communicate with your team on a weekly basis by holding briefing sessions, taking and responding to questions as necessary
- Manage the allocation of holidays such that an appropriate level of capability is always available
- Carry out team appraisals, return to work interviews and disciplinary investigations as required
