Safety and Software Evaluator - excellent opportunity to join a major Defence player. Working with the customer to establish the scope of the safety evaluation requirements. Evaluation of safety and software data supplied by the design authority. Assessing of safety documentation throughout the project lifecycle. Providing Technical interface with customers, Project Managers, Contractors and other Trials Specialists.
Act as an independent safety co-ordinator/advisor/assessor/auditor to projects. Provide Safety training and mentoring to other team members. Contribute to the customer report. You will be expected to provide specialist technical support to the customer as part of a world leading team of Aircraft trials and evaluation specialists. You will be responsible for evaluating evidence in support of the Military Aircraft Release recommendations for new and modified Military Aircraft with respect to flight critical systems.
You will have experience of: - Aircraft or Aerospace equipment industry - Safety analysis, Avionics system; Safety case (production/review/assessment); Safety engineering from other sectors (Rail, Nuclear, Process etc.). You will have a Degree or HND in Electrical/Electronics, Avionics, Software Engineering or other relevant subject, be a Chartered Engineer (or working towards Chartered status with proven experience in Safety engineering. Knowledge of Hazard and Safety Case assessment techniques and safety tools such as Hazard Analysis, Hazans, Hazops, FMECA, ETBA and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA). Knowledge of system/software lifecycle and software criticality issues. Writing technical reports. Experience of working to regulations such as JAR-25, Defence Standards 00-56, Mil Std 882, ARP4761 etc. For the software evaluator, language selection, static analysis, software robustness and regulations such as RTCA DO 178A & B, Defence Standard 00-55, IEC61508 etc. Experience/knowledge of Military Aircraft systems an advantage.
