Software Quality Engineer - An experienced Software Quality Engineer is required to join the Mission Assurance Team. You will report to the assigned Programme Operations Quality Lead, where your primary assignment will be on a major defence programme entering the D&M phase.You will be responsible for reviewing contract requirements and all the aspects of related software quality assurance activities, you will develop quality validation and verification flow down matrices covering all developmental & testing aspects of this high value software development programme (circa £30M).


Additionally you will be responsible for the development and maintenance of Software Quality management systems to maintain TickIT registration and guide the company to achievement of CMMi level 3 and beyond. You will be the point of contact for customer and 3rd Party software audits.
You will be a highly motivated self-starter, and a dedicated team member who is customer focused, detail orientated.


You will possess good written and communication skills. You will have experience in liasing with and auditing Suppliers involved in software development, integration and test from a QA standpoint.
You will be expected to travel on company business as part of your duties to both UK and overseas suppliers.


The sucessful candidate will:
Participate in Software design reviews, testing, configuration control, problem reporting and resolution, and change control; Participate in peer reviews of coding of software; Be familiar with, advise on and participate in, regression testing of software; Audit, monitor, evaluate and report on internal and external software activities; Conversant with root cause analysis tools and techniques;Utilize measurement and statistical methods to identify quality trends and potential risks; Provide results of independent assessments and status of quality activities to management;

ESSENTIAL Experience
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
Professional experience in a similar position; Qualified to a minimum of Degree level in a related discipline (Computer or System; Engineering preferred) or with other equivalent work experience; Knowledge of programming languages and tools (C, C++, DOORS etc) ; Conversant with requirements of AQAP 2110 and AQAP 150; Conversant with requirements of BS EN ISO 9001, TickIT and CMMi; Good IT skills in Microsoft Office: Excel, Word & Access; Shall have excellent interpersonal skills and extensive experience of dealing with suppliers.


Desirable Experience
Have a background in Defence / Aerospace software development. Familiar with Def Stans: 00-55 & 00-56. Familiar with Lean & Six Sigma Principles of continuous improvement. Previous experience in a research, development and manufacturing organisation on MoD contracts would be highly desirable.


The role will be based in Bedfordshire and is commutable from Bedford, Milton Keynes, Luton & Royston.
