An automotive OEM requires Software Engineer
Position Description:
Design, Development and verification of Electrical Engineering systems. Wor
ing with Engineers from all disciplines and liaising with Suppliers, Manufacturing, Finance and Programme Management. The activities will include development, process starting with defining system requirements, developing the specification and all the system documentation including FMEA's, Quality History Review, Design Validation plans, Robustness demonstrations, timing plans, release packages, development of diagnostics and carrying out validation plans, supporting vehicle builds etc... Must also communicate progress and issues etc... Areas of systems experience required. Diagnostics and control system components (ECU's, Sensors & actuators). Vehicle software, calibrations and diagnostic strategies for new model platforms. CAN to MOST gateways.
Skills Required:
Knowledge of Automotive processes with problem solving experience. Good communication, presentation and negotiation skills, a good team player. Experience in Design verification activities. Must be technically capable and practical with the ability to understand complex requirements and translate them into clear specifications. Must be motivated and keen to delivery a quality product. Coordinate the resolution of issues and change management activities. Use of problem solving tools eg. G8D, 6 Panel etc. typical activities include algorithm development for a control system, test plan generation, CAN message definition and system specification. Software test and validation, system de-bugging / reflashing of modules, bench testing to specification using simulation tools and vehicle validation including CET and HET. Must be able to work closely with many cross functional areas to achieve robust system solutions.
Skills Preferred:
Understanding of electronics hardware design tools and 6 sigma tools would be advantageous
Experience Required:
Experience of working with suppliers to deliver electronic systems preferably automotive applications. Must be familiar with using Microsoft office tools experience of Design and Development, understanding of client processes. Software or Control system engineering.
Experience Preferred:
Experience of using Electrical tools such as Mat lab Simulink, Can and Lin bus tools.
Education Required:
Candidates must have a minimum of HNC / HND in electrical, electronics or other applicable fields, ideally educated to degree level.
