Software Engineer
Electronics company in Kent currently seek a Software Engineer qualified to HND level (Degree level preferred) with experience of both embedded software design for time-critical microcontroller-based products, and PC application software development.
On the embedded side you should be experienced in software design, coding, debugging, testing, evaluating;
Coding in C and assembler on 8 and 32 bit microcontrollers (PIC, ATmega, ARM); Software design for time-critical systems;
Use of RTOS and embedded Linux; Digital communication protocols (RS232, TCP/IP).
For the PC Software you should be experienced in design, coding, debugging, testing, evaluating; Coding in C++, specifically Microsoft Visual C++; Implementation of GUIs; Use of USB ports and TCP/IP communications.
Tasks
Design of PC software for system design and configuration tools
Design of embedded software for system components
Design of embedded software for supporting products such as service/maintenance equipment
Beneficial attributes
Appreciation of electronics hardware (analogue and digital)
Web-based programming experience (HTML)
Appreciation of project management for product design projects
Experience of working in ISO 9001 design environment
Strong project control practices including documentation
Experience of Third Party Approval process
