Description
Software Engineer
Our client is a provider of proprietary and innovative solutions to the global vehicle industry, with focus on products in vehicles that enhance safety, environment and vehicle dynamics. They currently turnover over £500 million per annum and employs over 6000 people world wide. They operations are divided into four business areas, Commercial Vehicle Systems, Hydraulic Systems, Garphyttan Wire, and Traction Systems.
They have an urgent requirement for a SOFTWARE ENGINEER to join their Brake Software team based in North Worcestershire / South Birmingham area.
The Role
•Engineering of the full software life cycle concept, specification, analysis, design, implementation and test.
•Depending on project, development work on vehicles in the UK and abroad
Main Functions
•To develop software for our clients products according to their TS16949 processes
•To develop software for in-house test purposes
•To support engineers from other disciplines in system development and testing
•To support service engineers in the field where specific assistance is required
•Perform job functions in accordance with set policies and procedures to ensure preservation of Company Quality Policy
Skills Required
•Strong C programming language skills
•Use of Safe C subsets e.g. MISRA
•Appreciation of the specific challenges of real time systems
•Appreciation of structured analysis and design techniques
•Understanding of compilers and linkers
•Understanding of assembly code
•Understanding of microcontroller hardware
•Familiarity with emulators and debug tools
•Good understanding of personal computers and their operating systems
•Has the ability to work with others in a cross discipline team of engineers
•Has the ability to communicate at all levels, verbal, written and presentation
•Has the ability to solve problems and be self motivated
Education
•Any higher-level qualification in an engineering or computer systems related discipline
