We are seeking suitably qualified applicants with up to five years experience for the position of Software Engineer. Responsibilities
This position involves software configuration and installation using an in-house scripting language (similar to Javascript). C++ experience is required as we have to debug and correct the base software. There will also be some software development using ASP.NET and C#, though in-depth experience is not essential. The applicant should ideally have experience of SQL and Microsoft SQL Server, or other relational database. An overall understanding of the project software development cycle is desired: system specification; software design; software development; system testing; debugging; system commissioning; customer training; and an awareness of all non-software aspects of the project that may be affected by the software.
The Applications Software Engineer assists in the development of project software components, including:
•Specification and acquisition of project computer hardware and commercial software.
•Setup and configuration of project computer hardware and software.
•Development of software functional specifications and design specifications.
•Designing, coding, configuring, testing, debugging, installing and supporting project specific system software including:
- Application specific software modules including decision point processing, custom event processing (I/O events), and other application specific processing, primarily using a scripting language.
- Configuration of project specific database tables.
- Internal lab testing and simulation testing of project related host software.
- Troubleshooting, debugging, and assisting in applying corrective service software packs to product and project software.
- Archiving/preserving project related software.
- Customising of User and System Management manuals.
- Training of customer personnel on the use of the system.
- System installation and implementation.
- Remote and on-site support of installed systems.
