Started as an SS7 consultancy building custom products from best-of-breed hardware, our client quickly took this expertise into building and delivering carrier grade SS7 based signalling products. This has evolved today into providing a range of SS7 products protocol converters, gateways, and an extensive range of VoIP products Gateways, Media Gateway Controller, and SoftSwitch.
Job Overview:
The role is for a software engineer within a small engineering team. Our client has to be able to move fast to keep up with developments in the marketplace and there is the always scope for learning new skills. It's a chance to get exposure to a wide variety of signalling protocols.
The role will cover all aspects of the software lifecycle: bug fixing, providing technical backup to the support team, design, defining tests and new software development. Ideally someone who will grow and develop with the company. Work tends to be a lot of short-term projects so there is a lot of variety, meaning flexibility and no fixed boundaries to the role. The majority of the software stacks are written and maintained in-house but we don't design any of our own hardware. However, there is the need to integrate 3rd party hardware within the products and that will be part of the role as well.
The main product is a carrier grade SoftSwitch. Protocols supported are:
- VoIP: SIP and H.323
- TDM signalling: SS7 (ISUP, IUP, TUP, SCCP, etc), ISDN, R2, etc
- Media gateway control: MGCP and MEGACO (H.248)
- Various others for management: SNMP, RADIUS
Character Overview :
The ideal candidate will be a graduate with an excellent working knowledge of 'C'.
The position will include involvement and growing responsibility of all aspects of the life cycle of a software project.
Any telecoms experience would be a valuable asset. This position is open to both new graduates and experienced engineers.
