Technically, you must have significant experience of C and Linux/UNIX development. Beyond that, experience of the following would be an advantage:
-embedded software
- kernel and driver development
- Complex server/client software development
- Scripting languages, especially Perl or Python
- C++
- Windows or Mac OS X development
- The storage industry
