A Software configuration manager required to start immediately for a large defence organisation. The role is for an initial 6 month contract and is based in Cheadle heath, Stockport.
The Primary purpose of the role is to undertake activities associated with the software configuration management activities
Key accountabilities
•This role is one of software configuration management and support throughout all stages of the software development lifecycles.

Key accountabilities
•This role is one of software configuration management and support throughout all stages of the software development lifecycles.
•Responsible for configuring and maintaining software configuration tools.
•Includes development, deployment, support and training requirements.
•Release of all formal software builds including the creation of delivery media.
•Facilitates project Software Configuration Control Boards participates as directed by the project teams.
•Responsible for facilitating rigorous and robust Configuration Management procedures.
Skills and Knowledge desired.
•HNC or equivalent in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computing or equivalent would be desirable
•Experience of using configuration management tools and deploying and supporting the software configuration management process. Specific experience of Clear Case and Clear Quest is desired.
•Experience with Clear Case UCM is beneficial.
•Experience of producing defined software builds to tight milestones
•Strong UNIX skills including scripting
•Experience of software build environments used in ADA, C/C++ and Java projects
•Ability to communicate effectively with specialists and managers in a range of disciplines and levels.
Successful candidates may need to undergo security clearance
