We are currently looking for a Site Manager with previous managerial experience in the chilled food industry to join a leading food manufacturer.

1. PURPOSE OF JOB

i) As the site's senior manager and a senior member of the management team, to participate in the creation of the Company's strategic plan, to participate in and be responsible for, its timely achievement on the site.
ii) To ensure that the Company's legal, financial and contractual obligations are met, and to safely and cost effectively manage the operation of the site.
iii) To create and achieve the performance measures agreed in the budgets and to report in an appropriate and timely manner, on the operation of the business.

JOB CONTEXT AND CONTENT

The Job Holder reports to the Operations Director with indirect financial reporting into the Group Financial Director. The Job Holder will work with other members of the management team , to provide product customer and market support as required to develop the retail and other markets.

With specific and accountable responsibility for the site, its operation and budgets, to work with other managers to achieve high quality service, strong cost control, and the efficient development of sales to achieve efficient production, the budget and the strategic requirements of the business.

KPI's
ROI (return on investment) for the site's capital to include
Production output & yields
Raw Material utilisation & wastage As agreed annually in budgets
Packaging utilisation & wastage and revised forecasts.
Labour utilisation
Asset utilisation
Machine efficiency
Cost of finished goods
Customer Service


Volume:>15 tonnes per day and growing
Labour:>40 personnel
Equipment:> 4 manufacturing lines

4. KEY PROBLEMS FACED

As a new site, and responding to the strategic direction of the business and site, the profitability has to be managed by control of assets, both human and fixed so that site performance meets financial obligations. This requires the maintenance of strong communication with other parts of the company/group, suppliers subordinate colleagues and customers across a range of disciplines including:-

There is a need to interface both directly with customers and Sales & marketing to achieve the growth & service required.

The adjustment of labour costs and activities, whilst maintaining service standards is an essential tool and with the need to both manage and develop managers and staff, there is an ongoing requirement to ensure clear communication and strategy at all times which demands good communication, leadership, and example, control and management awareness at all times.

PLANNING AND ORGANISING

Daily & Weekly.
The job holder is required to plan daily and operationally for a week in advance both for the Job Holder's personal activities, and the management of the site. This will include health & safety, customer service, and personnel.

Monthly
The Job Holder is required to plan for the monthly reporting and cost management of the business, including the purchasing of raw materials and packaging vs. budget

Operationally
The budget and forecasts are developed and managed by the JH

Strategically
In conjunction with the senior team, the jobholder is required to plan strategically for up to three years ahead including definition of production requirements, standards, markets, infrastructures and the ROI any investment required.

6. DIRECTION RECEIVED

Direction is generally remote and is controlled and measured by the budget, costs market demands and company policies.

The Job Holder will take direction from the Operations Director and other Board members as appropriate reporting to management board meetings as required

9. ACCOUNTABILITES

The Main accountabilities Include:

i) Creation and achievement of the annual financial and operational budget measured against the accepted annual budget
ii) Accurate and timely financial management and reporting, including accurate forward views on the requirements and ROI of expenditure - measured against the annual predictions and profit/cost ratios shown in the accepted annual budget
iii) Cost effective and safe management of the site financially measured against the budget predictions.
iv) The provision of good customer service to 99.5% minimum service measured against the budget and the measurement programme created by the Job Holder
v) The maintenance and development of the site's efficiencies, hygiene, product and safety systems and processes and to progressively improve the site and operations in line with modern operational standards. Measured by EFSIS and customer audits, H&S records & safe working requirements of the H&S committee and legislation.
