The Transmissions, Structures and Drives Supply Chain Unit has accountability for delivering world class structural and mechanical drive sub-systems across all appropriate business sectors. HCAS is responsible for the manufacture of complex HP/IP bearing support structures and tail bearing housings. The major manufacturing processes used within the Supply Chain Unit include chip machining (turning, milling and grinding) and a wide range of assembly and joining processes, including electron beam welding.
The Manufacturing Engineering team is responsible for the development of manufacturing and assembly processes that allow the realisation of whole-engine lifecycle product designs at levels of cost, quality and delivery performance consistent with customer requirements. This includes the development of new manufacturing capability required for future product concepts and of Manufacturing Engineering processes and organisation.
The role to be filled at the HCAS facility is to support delivering improvements to significant non-conformance issues, whilst maintaining deliveries to support arrears reduction.
Essential Skills:
Candidates should be strong self-starters and motivated to deliver consistent work in a challenging environment.
Ability to work in cross-functional teams to deliver plans on time.
Ability to understand and interpret complicated engineering drawings is essential.
Good general IT skills (Microsoft Office, etc.).
Advantageous Skills:
Demonstration of understanding of the above-mentioned manufacturing processes.
Understanding of process capability and improvement tools.
Depth of Experience:
At least three years in a similar manufacturing industry is required. Previous experience of working in an Aerospace Gas Turbine Manufacturing environment would be beneficial.
Certification:
Preferably degree level engineering qualification but a lower level qualifications would be considered where practical experienced can be demonstrated. Evidence to be provided at interview.
