Description
Our client, a global leader in the Utility Power Generator Industry requires Diesel Generator Service Engineer, based in Washington - Tyne and Wear.
Duties will include the routine servicing of their plant as well as attending breakdowns/repairs at the depot and on site. You will also provide technical support and general back up to the plant to meet contractual requirements and undertake repairs for the Central area. This role will also involve call-out duties.
Successful candidates would need to be time-served mechanical engineer with electrical knowledge or an electrician with a mechanical skill set. Experience of working on large diesel engines, heavy plant machinery or marine engines would be beneficial although experience of diesel generators is the ideal.
This role involves direct customer contact and therefore excellent communication skills are essential as well as a valid driving licence.
A Company vehicle will be provided with this role, candidates therefore must hold a full valid driving licence and be able to work out of hours as and when required.
Main Tasks:
Equipment
* Site installation
* Routine service of plant at depots and on site
* Control of spares support
* Physical control of release and return of plant, including allocation of plant to meet contract requirements
* Attending to breakdowns/repairs at depot and site
Health and Safety
* Ensure service vehicle equipment and work area is maintained in safe and good order
* Responsible for ensuring own health and safety
General
* Standby duties at site
* Be on call out every fourth day.
Qualifications
* Mechanical or Electrical Apprenticeship.
Skills
* Ability to communicate clearly with colleagues and customers.
* Logical fault finding.
* Ability to work under a low level of supervision.
* Ability to work under own initiative.
Preferred Previous Experience
* Apprenticeship served mechanical engineer with electrical experience, or vice versa.
* Knowledge of generator servicing and fault finding an advantage
* High voltage applications.
Salary
16,400-21,000
Annual bonus up to 25% dependant on company performance.
