Description

Generator mechanical service engineer

The client operates and maintains CHP (Combined Heat & Power) Systems for a number of customers throughout the UK & Ireland, including many Local Authorities & Government Buildings. The majority of the systems are natural gas fired reciprocating engine generator units, which operate on a continuous basis throughout the daytime period producing electricity and heat on site. The systems operate at an overall efficiency of over 75% and therefore make significant financial and carbon savings for the clients and their sites. The service engineer role will be to organise day-to-day maintenance and carry out all routine service work on the CHP units including oil service intervals, modifications and repair work as necessary. The engineer should be based in the South and be a time served mechanic with experience in reciprocating engine repair work and generator systems. An understanding of electrical control systems would be advantageous.Training will be provided on the CHP product at the manufacturers works including training at the various site locations. As the majority of the units operate on natural gas a Corgi approved engineer would be preferable although not essential. With long periods working on gas appliances a non-smoker would also be preferable. The position will come with a company service vehicle and the candidate will therefore need to have a full, clean UK Driving Licence and be willing to work throughout mainland UK.
