Senior Systems Engineer - Armoured Fighting Vehicles Mission Fits
Description of Program
Our Client is working on a number programmes in the Tactical C4I and Armoured Fighting Vehicle (AFV) domain space, including Bowman Combat Infrastructure and Platforms (BCIP), C4I Export and FRES.
Purpose of Position
To provide systems engineering support to programmes/bids as the need demands.
The initial position will be on the FRES programme, assisting in the development of the overall system solution and specifying vehicle, electronic architecture and other on and off platform subsystems.
Responsibilities
Under the guidance of the engineering lead, assist with one or more of the following systems engineering activities:
User requirement specification
System requirement specification
System design specification
System Performance analysis and modelling 3rd party equipment assessment and selection
Subsystem specification
Procurement specification, including negotiation with contractors
System test planning, design & execution
System acceptance
Systems engineering support
Engineering reviews
Provide system design expertise and keep abreast of technology development in one or more areas of the AFV mission fit system, including electronic architecture, self defence weapons, system interoperability, cranes and winches.
Education/Experience
Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or IT or equivalent
Background in systems development, preferably in the area of AFV Mission Fits.
Comprehensive knowledge/understanding of architecture/technology/products associated with AFV mission fits.
Good understanding and knowledge of systems engineering process, including requirements management, systems analysis/design, system integration and test.
Good documentation skills, with knowledge in the preparation of systems documentation, including system requirement specifications, system architecture specifications, system design specifications, system test plans, system test specifications.
Knowledge in the use of systems engineering tools/methodologies, including: requirements management tools (DOORS desirable), system design tools (MODAF/UML/ARTISAN desirable).
Ability to think at the systems level.
Self discipline in time management.
Good self organisational ability
Self motivated
Ability to work within a team
Ability/flexibility to support all stages of the systems engineering/project life-cycle
Excellent English communication skills (oral, written, presentational), organizational skills, analyses and decision making skills, good interpersonal skills, sense of responsibility.
