Our client, a global telecoms company, requires a Senior Support Engineer to take up position working for a large government end-client. The role will
involve: The creation of documentation for any issues and fixes that are relevant to the service infrastructure. Assisting in the impact assessment, delivery and associated risks of proposed change. Project work to include working with fellow team members, looking at how a new technology can work successfully if incorporated into the existing infrastructure. Participating in team discussions in resolving technical difficulties. Troubleshooting, call resolution, and the creation of knowledge base articles for the Platform Team and Help Desk as required. Changes to environment, growth, backup and restore. Active involvement in service improvement. The role with require experience of as many of the following technologies as possible: Microsoft Active Directory; user and group creation and administration, group policy management, AD sites and services, AD FSMO role services, NTFS and file share level security using ACL's, Quest - Active Roles Server, Quest - Intrust Manager and recovery manager. Windows XP. Office Suite and Applications. Anti-Virus applications. Veritas and Arcserve backup applications. Novell servers and applications. TCP/IP fundamentals and a basic understanding of network connectivity. RSA Secure ID knowledge. Citrix Presentation Server. This is a 6 month contract vacancy to be based in Edinburgh.
