Purpose of Position
The Senior Software Development Engineer will join the Software Development Group, based in South Wales and be responsible for the technical design, rapid implementation, integration, test and support of software applications. In addition the role will involve specialism in HCI, creating and modifying GUI's .

Purpose of Position
The Senior Software Development Engineer will join the Software Development Group, based in South Wales and be responsible for the technical design, rapid implementation, integration, test and support of software applications. In addition the role will involve specialism in HCI, creating and modifying GUI's.
The development engineer will work with other members of the development group and be responsible for ensuring that their work adheres to the development quality processes and delivered in a timely manner.
Responsibilities
Applying and driving the HCI design and guidance to the software requirements and implementation
Proving software builds to support Lab demonstrations
Analysing software subsystem requirements
Rapid prototype development to support lab demonstrations
Customisation and Integration of COTS MOTS products
Work proactively with System Engineering to translate System models into software solutions
Work proactively with the internal HFI team
Validating S/W design against requirements and assumptions.
Education/Experience
ESSENTIAL
Proficient in HCI evaluations and tools.
Human Factors specialism
BS Degree in EE, CS, Physics or equivalent experience
Strong background in Software Design, Code, Test, V&V using current methodologies, processes and tools Good understanding of the OSI-layered communications model
Knowledge of specification preparation and participation in design reviews
Extensive engineering experience in software development
Excellent English writing and speaking skills
Excellent analytical skills
Subsatantial knowledge of CMM Development
Substantial C++ knowledge
Design leadership skills, autonomous, problem-solver, and creative.
DESIRABLE:
Small platform development knowledge
Developed applications for Military environments
Defense/aerospace industry background
Broad understanding of messaging protocols, TCP/IP, UDP, including those applicable to wireless (as well as wired) environments
Substantial Knowledge of real-time software systems
