Description
To contribute to the existing software design teams in order to develop software to quality, on time and to requirements. My client works in the Traffic Control Industry. Candidates must have had experience with OpenVMS VAX or Alpha.
To contribute to the existing software design teams in order to develop software to quality, on time and to requirements. My client works in the Traffic Control Industry. Candidates must have had experience with OpenVMS VAX or Alpha.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Preparing design specifications at both a product and a module level for dissemination to the software team and/or customers
2. Designing, developing and testing code
3. Preparing test schedules at both a module and a product level
4. Modifying existing software designs
5. Ensuring that design work is performed in accordance with the company's ISO 9001:2000 procedures
6. Ensuring that source code configuration management and problem tracking tools are correctly used
Essential:
Degree in engineering or computer science or equivalent.
Must have had some experience with OpenVMS
Proven experience in a similar role with exposure to some of the following (dependent upon division of software department the role sits within): Pascal or C, C++, C#; Windows, Linux; Intel, PowerPC or Alpha/VAX development as target systems. Experience of full product life cycle involvement.
Good communication skills, proven problem solving skills, ability to communicate at all levels, team player.
Methodical approach, versatile, flexible approach to work.
Driving licence, willing to travel when necessary.
Desirable:
First class degree in engineering or computer science or equivalent.
Some experience in a traffic control systems environment, with exposure to communications networks, IP protocols, safety critical systems or network/element management.
