We are supporting a global, diverse technology leader and the World's largest and most successful engine company. Our client leads the field in the design and manufacture of high-performance engines. Their continuous development programme, dedicated to furthering engine design allows them to offer one of the most advanced and comprehensive ranges of purpose-built diesel engines available today. Staying ahead in a rapidly changing world is vital and to achieve this they need ambitious, talented individuals who have the potential to create, challenge, and deliver global objectives.
Engine Technologies Europe is part of the companys Technology Division, which has responsibility for developing technology to support future product needs. Many exciting technologies are being developed including low exhaust emission technologies, high efficiency powertrains and simulation tool development.
The Role:
Integration of cavitation models into the companys in-house Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) code and validation of these models against bench data. Demonstration of the new modelling capability to simulate injection systems will be required
The job involves close interaction with researchers and code developers within the company and University partners. You will be expected to develop a deep understanding of cavitation theory and the underlying simulation code. Technical management of the external partners and sustained regular communication with internal code developers is critical to the success of this project
Other responsibilities include the communication of progress, results and objectives to project sponsors including the Technology Strategy Board (TSB), an arm of the UK government, as well as to internal Business Unit partners
Requirements:
An engineering or equivalent technical degree is required. A Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering with specialization in Computational Fluid Dynamics is highly desired
Expert C/C++ coding skills and experience with developing a CFD code will be an asset
Knowledge of diesel engine performance and emissions and/or combustion simulation is also highly desired
