Thames Water are looking to recruit a Senior Project Engineer (Mechanical), based in Maple Cross office.
The role will involve leading and developing the implementation of project designs on our major capital investment programme for Waste Water Treatment Plants and Pumping Stations. You will also have an opportunity to influence future capital programme solutions through involvement with studies leading up to the solutions being delivered during AMP5 (2009 2015).
Thames Water has one of the largest capital investment programmes. This is an opportunity to work on long-term multi-million pound projects to redevelop and expand some of the largest Waste Water Treatment Works and their associated Pumping Stations in the UK; and to provide a significant contribution to projects whilst working within a multidisciplinary team delivering a varied and interesting workload. The role will involve the following:
• Technical lead on a portfolio of projects
•Undertaking detailed studies of existing plant and systems
•Producing conceptual designs for new mechanical and process plant •
•Developing design data, design statements and the preparation of scheme drawings
•Writing design specifications
•Preparation of tender documents
•Carrying out tender assessments
•Evaluating design submissions to ensure that the business objectives will be achieved
•Dealing with design issues that arise during the construction phase
•Providing technical guidance to graduate engineers
• Regular liasing with both internal and external stakeholders
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills:
Ideally qualified to degree level in Mechanical Engineering or similar you should also have previous experience in areas such as project design and technical management of projects within a process based industry such as Water, Effluent Treatment, Petrochemical, Pharmaceutical, Oil and Gas or Power. Chartered status is also desirable. Good communication skills are paramount, with the ability to converse at all levels of the business. Excellent and demonstrable report writing skills.
