The company: As a result of diversification an opportunity has arisen within this highly successful mechanical manufacturer with a T/O in excess of £30M, employing over one hundred staff. The facility itself is modern and utilises world class production methods to produce their niche mechanical products.
The position is a pivotal position within the organisation, with responsibility for planning, co-ordinating and implementing projects, working with the Manufacturing Engineering Manager to see through to successful implementation, ongoing process improvements and mentoring less senior staff to develop their technical / engineering knowledge. As such it will suit an individual with good project skills but also with a proven Manufacturing Engineering / Production Engineering background as you will also provide input into lean initiative drives and introduction of new processes to the business.
Key accountabilities will include
Provision of accurate costings for all projects to ensure they are delivered on time, to budget.
To ensure projects are planned accurately and ensure steps are taken to identify and potential shortfalls, risks mitigated and resources are available.
Successful management and motivation of project teams in delivery of projects.
Provision of Production Engineering support to the business encompassing
•Justification and specification of new equipment
•Problem resolution / process improvements
•Input into introduction of lean manufacturing concepts / continuous improvement into the business
To succeed in this diverse role the ideal candidate will have a background in Production Engineering / Manufacturing Engineering / continuous improvement or similar coupled with some proven experience of project engineering, encompassing costings. Preference for HNC/D + individuals although those with relevant commensurate experience equally considered.
