Description
Opportunity in Daventry, Northants for a Product Engineer with diesel engine experience. Reporting to the Product Support Engineering Manager and responsible to analyse Cummins engine systems and components to identify cost reduction potential.
Opportunity in Daventry, Northants for a Product Engineer with diesel engine experience. Reporting to the Product Support Engineering Manager and responsible to analyse Cummins engine systems and components to identify cost reduction potential.
Key Responsibilities
Establish feasibility of cost reduction projects using value analysis techniques.
Involvement or lead the source approval activity for new suppliers of critical components.
Liaise with supply partners on new designs.
Become a technical contact for specific project components.
Ensure all Engineering Standard Work and/or Source Approval requirements are met for each project.
Failure and conditional analysis of test components.
Organise and co-ordinate relevant analysis and engine tests to demonstrate component integrity.
Formal written and oral presentation of projects including results of testing.
Manage projects to conclusion, organise and lead Design Reviews on all projects and then to document within a Technical Report.
Liaise with VPI group and plant functions to ensure a smooth and rapid introduction of cost reduction projects.
Essential Skills:
Degree in relevant Engineering discipline.
Must have a thorough understanding of diesel engine components with proven experience in a Product Engineering role.
Experience of manufacturing principles concerned with the production of castings, forging and fabrications.
Use of failure analysis tools and processes.
Awareness of Value Analysis techniques.
