PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT TEAM (PDT)

Excellent opportunity for you to join this world-class supplier of innovative, high performance actuation systems and equipment for the aerospace and defence industry.

As Senior/Principal Mechanical Engineer you will be primarily responsible for providing engineering expertise to lead the complete product design cycle. This includes conceptual design, detail design, analytical support of design, design to meeting requirements, design to cost, validation and product type approval and qualification. You will act as the technical interface with customer and management for any of these activities. You will also be required to support technical proposals and submissions and provide an engineering input throughout all phases of the project across core markets as required. You will have full authority for conducting the tasks directed by the Line Manager and the Project Leader and for the technical supervision of any junior staff allocated to his tasks.
In particular, you will create system and subsystem design specifications and where appropriate software requirements and interface specifications which capture and decompose the customer's requirements. You improve, develop and control the Engineering analysis facilities and you will also be responsible for developing the level of competency in analysis techniques in other engineers and designers. Where appropriate, you will create standalone specifications for sub-contracts, which reflect the customer and Company requirements. You will provide robust conceptual and detail designs to satisfy customer requirements. You will prepare design support documentation, conduct design calculations and maintain concise engineering records. You optimise system design and development activities while providing and maintaining costs.

You will also assist Production in ensuring produciblity of the design and provision of special-to-type test equipment.
Qualified to degree level or equivalent in an engineering discipline, you will have substantial experience of working in an Aerospace/Defence environment, preferably in a hydraulics/ control/ actuation related industry.
