Senior Power Electronics Engineers are now required at this leading car manufacturer in Norfolk. As an experienced Senior Power Electronics Engineer your role will be to support the development and commercialisation of hybrid-electric propulsion systems. You will be responsible for the specification, development, validation, and implementation of high voltage Power/Control Electronics used within HEV and EV automotive applications. Your knowledge should encompass 5-75kW Traction Motor Electronics, Generators and DC/DC Converters.
Successful candidates will be educated to degree level in Electrical/Electronics Engineering and have significant experience in Power Electronics and Software Design. You will require an extensive knowledge of power electronics, power conversion (DC/AC, DC/DC), high Voltage Power Supply design and Inverter/Converter topologies. Experience with PCB layout and fabrication using external PCB houses and prototyping facilities is also required. Furthermore you will need to be familiar with laboratory development and test equipment such as logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, etc required. Ideally you will also be experienced in Motor control or hybrid electric vehicle energy management and volume production of embedded control system. Preferably you will have an automotive background, but you could also come from an aviation, rail or power industry. You will be PC literate with experience of PCB design software, Microsoft Office and MATLAB/Simulink. You will need all round knowledge of software design and implementation and experience of safety analysis methods.

Senior Power Electronics Engineers are now required at this leading car manufacturer in Norfolk. As an experienced Senior Power Electronics Engineer your role will be to support the development and commercialisation of hybrid-electric propulsion systems. You will be responsible for the specification, development, validation, and implementation of high voltage Power/Control Electronics used within HEV and EV automotive applications. Your knowledge should encompass 5-75kW Traction Motor Electronics, Generators and DC/DC Converters.
As Senior Power Electronics Engineer you will design, test and produce robust, automotive-grade electronic hardware for the control and distribution of energy for a range of products (ex, High Voltage DC/DC Converters, Electric Driveline 3-Phase Motors, Generators, etc). You will undertake Power/Control Electronics Design including modelling/simulation, component sizing, thermal analysis; control electronics circuit design, power electronics strategy, high voltage isolation, EMC, FMEA, duty cycle, manufacturability, hardware protection, system efficiency, cost and packaging. You will design and deliver mixed digital and power electronic hardware including electrical distribution, schematic design, board layout, and mechanical housing for both prototype installations and production proposals.
As part of your role you will work with Motor Design engineers, Motor Control engineer, System Engineer, Thermal Engineer and Designer to develop robust automotive grade power electronic solutions. You will also drive product development from initial concept through final product launch as well as generate engineering documentation such as BOMs, Schematics, Qualification Reports, FMEAs and Interface Control Documentation. You will oversee all qualification tests to meet Electrical, Mechanical, Environmental, Thermal and EMI requirements. Furthermore you will undertake System installation, commissioning and development and liaise with customers.

Other desirable skills/experience include: PROTEL PCB design software; PCB analysis and test tools; TMS320 assembler or other low level language; Electronic analysis and test tools; safety Analysis tools; C/C++ programming languages. (Including MSVC, AutoCad or AutoCad LT, Access. Visual Basic, Turbo Pascal, Fortran.
In general most work will be on site, but there is the possibility of working off site, in particular overseas, for periods of one to four weeks at a minimum of once a year. You will also need to be willing to work overtime as required.
