SENIOR PLANNING ENGINEER
STEEL PRODUCTION
SCUNTHORPE, ROTHERHAM & TEESSIDE
We are seeking a Senior Planning Engineer to manage the activities of the Mechanical Workshops Planning/Progress & Estimating Department to enable each Manufacturing department to maximise the profitability whilst delivering the lowest cost engineering service. You will also be required to produce detailed planning schedules for the Departments to enable efficient cost effective progress of components manufactured and refurbished through the assigned areas.
The Senior Planning Engineer is required to manage and co-ordinate the team of planning/progress & estimating personnel to ensure incoming orders and enquiries can be achieved to customers requirements and within Mechanical Workshops operating standards / profitability.
Your principal accountabilities will be to co-ordinate the activities and priorities of the programming, progress, materials, scheduling and estimating sections within the planning department, to liaise with customers to assess work content for orders received, provide management with key financial & operational performance data, trends etc and to act as first point of contact to provide expert advice to customers and others within their area of expertise.
You will also be required to negotiate with suppliers for the purchase of spares/materials to satisfy customer requirements, manages supplies contracts accordingly, as well as recommending the purchase of equipment, tools and specialised machinery to attain quality, improve efficiency, and maintain customer satisfaction.
To succeed as Senior Planning Engineer, you should have a craft engineering background, educated to HNC or equivalent level, with practical planning and experience in maintenance and manufacturing engineering. You should have a knowledge of computerised engineering systems and the ability to communicate with all Workshop Management and Craft personnel.
