Description
Senior Mechanical Engineer
Design and develop the next generation weapon systems. Ensuring performance reliability and cost targets through the design and manufacturing cycles.
Working with an established design team and taking on the responsibility for the transfer of the design back to the UK.
Based in Scotland with periods seconded to a design team located in Arizona.
Key Competencies
1. 3D CAD literate - any of ProE, Catia, Solid Works, Solid Edge
2. Principles of drives and controls
3. Minimum first order stress analysis
4. Materials - metals, plastics, composites.
5. Manufacturing processes - e.g. machining, forging, casting, moulding
6. Manufacturing processes - e.g. assembly, wiring, testing, tooling
7. Tribology
8. Gears, bearings, slides, screws
9. Motors and electrical machines
10. DFA, DFM, DTC
Education and Experience
1st Degree - Mechanical, Electronic, Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics or equivalent
In depth knowledge of in industrial assembly environment
In depth knowledge of design application or integration of electromechanical assemblies and controls (may be included with 1 )
Hands on experience in design and development of mechanisms and/or actuators, motion devices. analysis
Requirements and specifications analysis and generation, reportage, cost analysis
