Excellent opportunity for an experienced mechanical design engineer

My client, a manufacturer of storage solutions for electronics products, have an opening for a mechanical design engineer.

Key requirements:
Working as part of an innovative global mechanical design team delivering best in class storage enclosures you will have:
1) Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
2) Experience of at least two major design projects as Lead or Senior Mechanical Designer involving complete products or substantial sub-assemblies.
3) Ability to provide leadership to a local mechanical design team and effective liaison with global Design teams and global Procurement teams.
4) Ideally, a background in electro-mechanical products with a consumer or business bias.
5) Experience of working in an On Time, On cost, On Function environment with compressed development cycles.
6) Ability to work alone or as part of a local or global team.
7) Experience of working in cross-functional teams.
8) Proven approach to innovative design solutions from concept to production.
9) Ability to produce designs suitable for both low volume and high volume customers.
10) Extensive experience of designing components using complex injection mouldings, pressure die castings, sheet metalwork (CNC and hard-tooled/progression) and extrusions, and knowledge of the processes that produce them.
11) In-depth understanding of process design constraints such as tolerances and the ability to produce detailed tolerance studies.
12) Knowledge of material capabilities.
13) Good understanding of part and tooling costs.
14) Experience in dealing with a global vendor base, with a willingness to travel and make site visits when necessary to approve tooling drawings and first-off samples
15) Experience of designing products which require agency approvals (UL, CE, TUV etc.).
16) Experience of harsh environmental requirements; Shock and vibration, thermals, EMC, safety etc.
17) Experience in design methodologies; DFM, DFMA, DF'X' VA/VE.
18) Ability to produce clear, concise detailed drawings.
19) Proficiency in at least one 3D parametric modelling platform. Experience with Autodesk Inventor R11 and Autodesk AutoCAD R2007 or later would be an advantage.
20) Proficiency in MS Office applications and Internet searches.
21) Experience of Desktop Publishing software would be an advantage.
