HVAC ENGINEERS
INTELLIGENT NUCLEAR CLEAN-UP
WARRINGTON, GLOUCESTER OR READING
We are seeking Senior HVAC and HVAC Engineers to provide technical solutions to nuclear decommissioning, clean up, remediation and nuclear engineering problems. You will be joining the Engineering & Solutions Function in either Warrington, Gloucester or Reading and may be allocated to one or more large/medium sized projects, working in an integrated design team reporting to the Engineering Manager. Alternatively you may be allocated to provide smaller inputs to a larger number of projects from within a discipline group
Your specific responsibilities will include ensuring that codes and standards are correctly applied, producing/ approving calculations, analyses, drawings, models, design basis documentation and technical reports, producing/ approving technical Scopes of Work, assessing tender returns, then verifying/assessing and/or producing/ approving the outputs to ensure that the requirements of the design sub-contract are met, as well as producing/ approving technical specifications, assessing tender returns and providing technical support to those packages throughout the design, construction, installation, commissioning, operation and decommissioning.
As HVAC Engineer you will also carry out design risk assessments, prepare designs for hazard identification and HAZOP studies, produce, scope and substantiate calculations to support design and will supervise junior engineers, design draughtsmen or subcontractors to produce design packages.
As Senior HVAC Engineer, you will be ensuring that design consultants and sub-contractors deploy suitably qualified and experienced personnel, that conventional health & safety and environmental protection requirements are embodied in designs and will establish and maintain the engineering configuration, ensuring that the overall Design Intent and integrity is maintained throughout design development and implementation.

As Senior HVAC Engineer, you will be ensuring that design consultants and sub-contractors deploy suitably qualified and experienced personnel, that conventional health & safety and environmental protection requirements are embodied in designs and will establish and maintain the engineering configuration, ensuring that the overall Design Intent and integrity is maintained throughout design development and implementation. You will also be involved in presenting designs for hazard identification and HAZOP studies, producing estimates for bids and supervising engineers/technical specialists within the same discipline.
As HVAC Engineer, you will have an HNC/HND/Degree in Building Services or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. Senior EC&I Engineers should be Chartered, and corporate membership of the appropriate Engineering Institution is preferred.
You must have also have experience of working in a contracting organisation or consultancy and have a background in the design, installation and commissioning of ventilation plant for clean rooms, pharmaceutical industry or hazardous environments such as tunnelling or mining. You should ideally be able to design other building services such as heating, chilled and domestic water, drainage, compressed air and automatic controls for these systems where applicable. Knowledge and experience of applying CIBSE codes and standards is a requirement.
Flexibility to work at different locations in both the UK and Europe (including Eastern Europe) for up to a week at a time, sometimes at short notice is essential as is holding a driving licence.
