Description

Objective
To convert engineering design information into a documented and sequenced set of instructions for production to build vehicles.
To investigate, design and provide all special tooling and assembly aids to assist vehicle build.
To provide technical support to all areas of the organisation who require information with respect to the manufacture of the Body-In-White stage of production.
To investigate/resolve manufacturing engineering related issues experienced in production

Responsibilities

PROCESS COMPILATION AND MODIFICATIONS Investigate engineering release packages in line with their assigned release dates, determine effect of change on production, check and confirm manufacturing feasibility. Create or modify process instructions and introduce to shop floor.
OPERATOR INSIGHT SHEETS/PROCESS AUDITS Issue, monitor and action process audit/Operator
Insight sheet findings to resolve any discrepancies identified.
TOOLING To investigate any tooling requirements, to identify solutions, to identify suppliers and obtain quotations, to raise orders to obtain issue and control tooling onto shop floor.
PROJECT MANAGEMENT
Small Projects Take on full responsibility for all manufacturing-engineering functions including shop floor introduction of smaller items.
Large Projects Take full responsibility for all manufacturing functions including shop floor
introduction of assigned sections of larger projects.
Also includes: Design investigation, trial builds, devise process and initial build sequence, identification of tooling and aids, support on line training, carry out issue identification and resolution, including KTM identified/assigned problems.
TECHNICAL SUPPORT Provide advise/information to other areas regarding production, i.e. Sales & Marketing for visits, Service to aid body repair strategies, engineering to identify build sequence and potential conflicts with design changes
Qualifications/Experience:
Good basic understanding of various vehicle systems and previous hands on experience.
HND/Degree, studying for degree or relevant experience.
Understanding and/or previous experience of BIW production and build sequences.
Understanding of Company systems i.e. MS Word, Excel, Goldcrest, Access, MS Outlook.
FTEP (FMEA,G8D,etc)
Understanding of basic body construction geometry.
Ability to interrogate and interpret CMM data.
Understanding of Control Plans, SPC, and SC/CCs.
Appreciation of special tooling design and applications
