Senior Engine Test Technician required for permanent position with an Automotive Engine/Powertrain consultancy based in Northampton.

Senior Engine Test Technician
Location Northampton

Purpose of Job
To provide quality engine test data in line with project requirements

Duties
1. Support project requirements and operations within the Test Department
2. Pre rigging and fitment of engines to the test bed
3. Edit test screen layouts
4. Collate data and present reports as required
5. Adjust engine parameters and monitor effects on engine operation
6. Assist with the day to day running of department
7. Attend project meetings when required
8. Assist in training other staff
9. Support process development
10. Support risk & COSHH assessments
11. Work to departmental Health and Safety procedures

Qualifications
BTEC ONC In Mechanical Engineering or Automotive Engineering or equivalent

Skills and Experience
Extensive proven experience within auto/engineering industry
Technical knowledge and working experience of engine test equipment.
A good understanding of engine hardware, EMS, control systems and fault finding
An understanding of engine emissions both in control and measurement
An understanding of fault diagnosis and repair for Horiba emissions equipment.
High standard of fitting skills and able to produce fabricated components
Able to adjust engine parameters using the Engine Management System with minimal assistance
Understand test data and able to identify if data is outside of set parameters
Good electrical and mechanical fault finding ability
IT competent
Good fault diagnoses skills for both engine, EMS and test facility equipment
