Successful candidates will work within the PSA Team to support in the provision of a first class power systems analysis and technical advisory service to Generation Business Unit customers.
You will work within the project delivery team to provide first class power system design, electrical system design, specification, technical advisory and project engineering service to customers.
The main challenges of the role include:
•To be conversant with the power system studies, electrical design, specification, construction and operation of HV / LV electrical networks, substations and the plant/equipment (switchgear, cables, overhead lines, transformers, protection and earthing) associated with the grid integration of renewable energy generation projects
•To provide design utilising various power system analysis software packages
•To be able to write, review and approve the relevant design studies and calculations (eg optimised sizing and specification of switchgear, cables, overhead lines and transformers; co-ordination of protection settings; calculation of step and touch potentials etc) as required to achieve the grid integration of renewable energy generation projects
•To provide innovative designs and develop cost effective solutions for various power system issues arising from the integration of renewable energy projects.
•To be able to identify, develop, and ultimately successfully negotiate the integration of innovative generation site and grid connection designs with network operators and primary generation plant manufacturers to gain the best value solutions for clients
Qualified to minimum degree level in Electrical Engineering, you will have an interest/commitment to renewable energy and/or environmental issues with sound experience working in electrical power engineering/electrical network system environment. Knowledge of control systems and SCADA package applications would be an advantage.
