My client is one of the world's leading engineering and plant building companies for the international metals industry, they currently have a requirement for a Senior Electrical Engineer.
Role
Reporting to the Lead Electrical Engineer the role has a wide ranging remit with the opportunity to use or develop wide ranging electrical skills. The electrical engineer is given responsibility for the coordination of the electrical content of projects within the aluminium division. In particular the following tasks are inherent to the position.
Tasks
-Responsibility for the specification of the electrical equipment on aluminium projects.
-Preparation of Motor & Component Lists.
-Preparation of Electro-Mechanical Functional Specifications.
-Specification of Electro-Civil interfaces including plant location drawings, embedded conduits and cable routing.
-Responsibility for providing and managing the interface between the client / electrical partner / mechanical engineering functions.
-Coordination of electro-mechanical interfaces between SVAI UK and Siemens offices worldwide, attending meetings and witnessing integration tests of electrical equipment.
-Coordination of electrical and automation aspects of projects with mechanical sub-contractors.
-Pre-sales and post sales interface with customers worldwide attending technical clarification meetings with clients.
-Pre-project estimating, obtaining and evaluating prices for electrical / automation systems and preparing internal hours budgets.
-Assisting project management in ensuring electrical and automation aspects of projects are executed on time and within budget.
-Supporting project start up during installation and commissioning phases as necessary.
Education / Knowledge / Experience
Essential
A good understanding of industrial electrical systems design is essential.
The role will demand a high level of commitment and initiative, suiting a candidate who is positive, confident and most importantly self motivated. The individual will have a willingness to accept responsibility and be able to contribute effectively within a team and demonstrate potential in developing leadership qualities. Administrative organisational skills together with an aptitude for writing functional specifications and electrical procedures are necessary.
It is important to note that the role will involve worldwide travel.
Desirable
Degree or HNC/HND
Experience in any or all of the following with a willingness to develop skills in all of these aspects:
-Industrial variable speed drives
-Basic (PLC) and plant coordination automation systems
-General electrical systems and distribution equipment
The ability to read and understand mechanical drawings and fluid circuits will be an advantage.
Experience with AutoCAD and 3D drawing software such as Solid Edge is beneficial.
