ELECTRICAL, CONTROL & INSTRUMENT ENGINEERS
INTELLIGENT NUCLEAR CLEAN-UP
WARRINGTON, GLOUCESTER, OR READING

We are seeking Senior EC&I and EC&I Engineers to provide technical solutions to nuclear decommissioning, clean up, remediation and nuclear engineering problems. You will be joining the Engineering & Solutions Function in either Warrington, Gloucester or Reading and may be allocated to one or more large/medium sized projects, working in an integrated design team reporting to the Engineering Manager. Alternatively you may be allocated to provide smaller inputs to a larger number of projects from within a discipline group

Your specific responsibilities will include ensuring that codes and standards are correctly applied, producing/ approving calculations, analyses, drawings, models, design basis documentation and technical reports, producing/ approving technical Scopes of Work, assessing tender returns, then verifying/assessing and/or producing/ approving the outputs to ensure that the requirements of the design sub-contract are met, as well as producing/ approving technical specifications, assessing tender returns and providing technical support to those packages throughout the design, construction, installation, commissioning, operation and decommissioning.

As Senior EC&I Engineer, you will be ensuring that design consultants and sub-contractors deploy suitably qualified and experienced personnel, that conventional health & safety and environmental protection requirements are embodied in designs and will establish and maintain the engineering configuration, ensuring that the overall Design Intent and integrity is maintained throughout design development and implementation. You will also be involved in presenting designs for hazard identification and HAZOP studies, producing estimates for bids and supervising engineers/technical specialists within the same discipline.

With HNC/Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent, Senior EC&I Engineers should be Chartered, and corporate membership of the appropriate Engineering Institution is preferred. Experience of working in a contracting organisation or consultancy would be ideal, particularly for Senior roles.

Your background will be in the design and installation of industrial electrical, control and instrumentation systems associated with mechanical handling plant and/or process control systems including: LV power distribution and cabling, programmable logic controllers (including knowledge of software specification), SCADA and data logging systems, transducers for monitoring and control and variable speed motor control systems. Knowledge of current codes and standards associated with safety related system design is required.

Ideally experience would include the nuclear industry and major capital new build or decommissioning projects, as well as time served experience of the nuclear industry and major capital new build or decommissioning projects. Also experience of working in radiologically controlled areas.

For the role of EC&I Engineer, you must be prepared to work at different European and UK locations for up to a week at a time, sometimes at short notice. A driving licence is essential.
