An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Development/Project Engineer Combustion Systems Tools to join a world leading provider of technology, product innovation, engineering solutions and strategic consulting to the worlds automotive industries.

Successful candidates will lead research and customer projects in the field of Experimental Combustion System Tools, and be a working level point of contact in our clients relationship with universities.

Key Responsibilities will include:

•Day-to-day running of the combustion tools research program and its interface with Ricardo stakeholders, and related customer projects
•Maximise the value to Ricardo of available combustion tools facilities
•Understand the requirements and manage delivery of high quality combustion validation data from experimental programs
•Ensure robust processes in place for delivery of combustion measurements
•Supporting testing at off site establishments.
•To post process and analyse optical diagnostic data and to report and present to both internal and external clients.
•To liaise with internal Ricardo customers for model validation.
•To assist in the identification, development and marketing of commercial opportunities in the field of Combustion tools.
•To assist in the development of future strategy for future combustions tools and techniques development.
•To instigate, develop and present technical papers at high grade conferences.
•To assist in the planning, tracking and financial control of projects.
•To develop software, manuals and processes to shorten project lead-times with increasing quality and to train colleagues in the use of these tools and processes.

Ideally you will have a BSC in a relevant engineering area, with a recent PhD in Optical Diagnostic techniques/Post Grad MSc or industry experience being a distinct advantage. The ideal candidate would also have experience in or a good understanding of engine combustion, modern 1d and 3d CFD methods as well as experience of working with Universities. Good analytical skills, including experience with MATLAB or similar, as well as excellent communication skills are also required.
