SENIOR DESIGN ENGINEER
POWER CONVERSION SYSTEMS
RUGBY
An opportunity exists for a Senior Design Engineer to work within the Electrical Machines Manufacturing Unit to be responsible for the design of all types of excitation, synchronising and protection equipment for synchronous motors and generators, for both general industry and the utilities.
As Senior Design Engineer you will be responsible for the project engineering, tendering, development and testing activities associated with excitation control systems, setting up, testing and occasionally commissioning analogue and digital control systems, being responsible for technical liaison with both suppliers and customers and providing technical advice and investigations in support of factory, site or warranty issues.
To succeed as Senior Design Engineer, you should have a background in power electronics and small signal electronics (including closed loop control). You must also be able to demonstrate relevant experience in the design and application of excitation systems, preferably including static and digital systems.
Ideally qualified to degree level or equivalent qualification in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, you will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, a flexible, proactive approach to your work, and will be willing to take on new skills.
This position will occasionally involve commissioning work, investigation or sales support, and will require travel within the UK and abroad. A UK driving licence is considered necessary. A flexible approach to working hours is expected to respond to the fluctuating demands of the Company's business.
This new and successful company, a former ALSTOM business, is a global specialist in Power Conversion. They provide customised solutions to convert electrical energy through the optimum application of technology in drives, controls, motors and generators.
