My client specialises in the design and manufacture of products relating to reducing the risk of power surges within an highly volatile manufacturing environment, they currently have a requirement for a Mechanical Design Engineer.
My client require mechanical designers to design housing solutions for Electronic products.
My Client traditionally use a variety of materials and fabrication methods for their various products. Experience and understanding of some or all of these is required, for example Injection Moulded Plastics, Die Cast Metals, Extrusions, Folded Sheet Metals etc.
Understanding of how the enclosure affects thermal and EMC properties would be very beneficial.
Good understanding of drawing structures, part numbering etc is essential.
Good practical aptitude.
-Strive to maintain knowledge of state-of-the-art techniques and methods.
-Ensure the adoption of "Best practice" engineering to solving the design and manufacturing challenges commensurate with time and cost targets.
-Take a pro-active approach to the profitable application of technology to the market through innovative design and ideas on products.
-Exercise commercial awareness in its broadest sense encompassing supplier and product manufacturing issues.
-Maintain a good awareness of the market and the applications where products being designed are sold and used including awareness of relevant standards.
-Take a pro-active approach to technical leadership within the project team.
-Supervise and help the development of other engineers by setting good example in all areas, e.g. giving technical guidance, showing commercial awareness, showing commitment to timescales , showing positive attitude.
-Help other members of the project team to contribute to the team's output through pro-active communication and sharing ideas.
-Ensure team co-operation and strive for team success with a positive attitude.
-To ensure designs meet the appropriate market requirements including interpretability as a whole system where appropriate.
-To ensure designs achieve prime cost, functionality, quality and manufacturability targets.
-To ensure developments are completed on time and within budget and to specification.
-To take an active part in peer and formal design reviews as required.
-To ensure that the "Design for Market" procedures are followed in full.
