Based in either Maple Lodge or Reading, the purpose of this role is to provide technical expertise in all aspects of the management of odour at wastewater and sludge treatment plants. In particular the development and review of process design standards and standard practice documents for odour control systems.
Working within the Wastewater Process Design team in Capital Delivery, the Senior Consultant (Odour) will be the senior technical specialist in this area of growing importance for the business. The post-holder will help shape and deliver the Company's strategy for odour management and control for AMP5 and beyond and will own the Company's standard practice documents.
The post-holder will also be a key member of the Process Design team, with expertise in other areas of wastewater and sludge treatment. The process design role is key to capital project delivery and the PR09 business planning programme, with decisions made during process selection and design being fundamental to the success of the projects. As a senior technical specialist the post-holder will help develop the technical expertise of others in the team.
The successful applicant will have the following:
Degree in Science or Engineering or equivalent.
Specialist experience in all aspects of odour control, including
odour surveys, development of odour management plans and process design of odour control systems for medium and large scale wastewater treatment plants.
Demonstrable expertise in both wastewater and sludge treatment
process design.
Experience of, or a good understanding of the project delivery
process within Thames Water.
Good verbal and written communication skills, and strong IT skills
A flexible approach to working (location, hours) is required.
As the role will involve occasional site working, basic understanding
of potential hazards and procedures for working on construction and operational sites is required.
