Assystem are currently working very closely with a Vehicle manufacturer who is expanding its Project Engineering team. Due to the current status of its project, both Design and Project Engineers are required.
THE MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
Mastermind and drive the development and application of advanced composite technology within the company
Monitor developments in composite technology through published material, conferences, specialist shows, supplier liaison and academic contacts

THE MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
Mastermind and drive the development and application of advanced composite technology within the company
Monitor developments in composite technology through published material, conferences, specialist shows, supplier liaison and academic contacts
Access the relevance of new material and manufacturing process technologies Develop new material and process technologies through R&D projects and where appropiate in cooperation with external bodies. Manage the composite technology R&D budget
Protect new developments though patent applications or other measures and expand the Group composite IPR portfolio
Apply new composite material and process technologies to current and future products through very close working relationships with design and manufacturing engineers in house or supplier companies
Support new technology applications through to production readiness and where appropiate through product lifecycle
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential (E) or Desirable (D)
Experience
Experience in working in carbon fibre composite R&D (E)
A strong interest in technologies of high volume production for composite parts (D)
Coverage of full product life cycle from basic materials research through to manufacture and field experience (D)
Well connected in the composite industry with suppliers and academic institutions (E)
Direct experience in the use if CAE tools for optimization of composite structures (E)
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Good team player and communicator. (E)
Pragmatic approach to delivery in our market sector (E)
Creative and open minded approach to use new technology (E)
Able to prepare and manage plans and budgets (E)

Qualifications and Training
Mechanical or Automotive Engineering Degree 2:1 or above. (E)
