Description

Scheduler/Project Planner is required by this leading defence organisation to provide support to relevant company Business Areas and Programmes including Business Areas Directors, Programme Managers, Programme Teams, Finance and Functional Heads. Provision of Programme Metrics to support Internal and External Reporting. Ensure consistent application of approved best practice processes and tools across the company i.e. CMMI (Capability Maturity Model Integration), IPDS (Integrated Product Development System), Risk & Opportunity Management.


The role will be based in Essex and is commutable from Hatfield, Romford, Royston & Chelmsford.


ESSENTIAL Education and Experience:
Must be able to demonstrate professional knowledge of working in a Project/Programme Control environment. Experience of Microsoft Project 2000


Desirable Experience:
Educated to Degree Level or equivalent. Experience of Microsoft Project Enterprise 2003. Financial management and budgeting, experience of Earned Value management. Experience of Risk Management Process and tools (ARM).


Competencies:
The Scheduler must be able to multi-task and to support and guide Programme Managers and their Teams. You will need good written & verbal communication skills across all levels of the business and good IT skills with the ability to learn new applications. The ability to work with diverse project teams and stakeholders is required and to support , guide and influence project teams to ensure programmes are set up in accordance with the company's standard practices and processes. Skills sharing & mentoring as well as commercial awareness.

Nature and Scope
Responsible for integrity of Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) ensuring that all activities, events and milestone are logically linked and fully resourced with labour hours, materials, subcontract payments and reserves. The IMS is required to be statused weekly/monthly, aligned to the fiscal calendar and provide an accurate Cost to Complete (EAC) for financial reporting. Schedule performance data to be provided for EVMS processing. To carry out independent analysis of trend data and provision of metrics for review at Programme Monthly Review Boards. To monitor the Programme Timesheet Bookings and report consequences of late submittal/unapproved Timesheets and affect on metrics. Responsible for ensuring the Programme follows the Company Risk Manager Process. This includes support to the Programme Risk Manager, facilitation of Programme Risk Review Boards (Internal and External) , risk identification and documentation, risk analysis, identification and tracking of mitigation actions and reporting. Support to the Programme Manager, CAMs and Programme Accountant to establish budget authorisations. Monthly collation and analysis of finance data such as schedule derived Estimates To Complete (ETCs). Development of Programme Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and Organisational Breakdown Structures (OBS).


Travel to other sites (UK, Europe and USA) may be required.
