Description

Sales Engineer

This is an office based position, reporting to the Bids Manager, with the primary aim of enhancing the effectiveness of the field sales managers by providing support in the handling of enquiries and quotations throughout the sales process.

Internal Sales Engineer

This is an office based position, reporting to the Bids Manager, with the primary aim of enhancing the effectiveness of the field sales managers by providing support in the handling of enquiries and quotations throughout the sales process.

The role will include a significant degree of customer contact, and another key aim is to improve the professionalism and timeliness of response to client.

The job holder will also contribute to the lead generation process and marketing activities.

Areas of responsibility:
Acting as first point of contact for new telephone and internet enquiries.
Interpreting customer requirements from a technical and commercial perspective.
Assisting with the preparation of our response to PQQ, EOI, RFI, RFP etc.
Assist with the management of overseas sales representatives.
Handling customer contact in the absence of Sales Managers.
Conducting internet based research on customers and competitors as required by Sales Managers
Contributing to the Capture Planning process for specific bids and acting as bid manager on an occasional basis as requested.
Maintaining sales files in both hard and soft format.
Assisting sales managers in the preparation of monthly reports.
Compilation of cost estimates as required.
Drafting and preparation of sales literature and marketing materials.
Contributing to the preparation and manning of trade show stands on an occasional basis.

Knowledge:
An engineering background, with specific experience in the mechanical and electrical field.
Good level of commercial awareness.

Skills:
The ability to communicate well at all levels both internally and in the customer & user communities.
Good interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong customer relationships.
The ability to write technical reports and proposal documentation and to present in a professional manner.

Experience
Experience in a sales / customer facing environment
Experience of UK Defence procurement processes

Qualifications:
A good general level of education.
A post-16 qualification in a technical subject would be an advantage but is not essential.

Successful candidates will be required to be security cleared prior to appointment.
