Vacancy Description
To, individually or as part of a team, identify, pursue and close sales opportunities in accordance with the agreed business strategy for allocated customers or regions or specific enquiries.
To maintain relationships with Customers and external agencies within an agreed overall sector of responsibility in order to develop/identify new/further opportunities that fall within the Companys capability and in line with the Companys strategy.
For allocated opportunities to:
• Secure approval from the Company on the price, terms and specification that can be offered
• Prepare (or co-ordinate and lead) the timely submission of information, quotations and proposals to Customers
• Follow up such quotes/proposals in order to secure the contract/purchase order
From time to time to represent and promote the client at trade shows
To maintain adequate records of all customer contacts, communications and reports.
To provide reports on the status of sales and activities as required
To support the Sales Manager/Director in preparing budgets, estimates etc.
To contribute to any changes as may be required to the formulation of revised business plans and strategies.
To undertake such travel as may be required in order to execure the above duties
Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
HNC or equivalent in electrical, electronic or other branch of aerospace engineering
At least 5 years experience in a position requiring extensive customer interaction (e.g. Sales, Programme Management, Customer/Field Support, Contracts, senior engineer) in an Aerospace or Defence industry environment
or equivalent depth of experience in a responsible position as an end user of avionic or similar equipment in a commercial or defence aerospace environment
Desirable
Degree in electrical, electronic or aerospace engineering
3 or more years experience in a sales role in a competitive Aerospace or Defence environment
Experience of the development life cycle for avionics equipments, including those containing embedded software
General aviation knowledge/awareness
Business and financial competence
Essential:
Understanding/experience of working in both engineering and manufacturing environments
Familiarity with principles and issues surrounding contract terms and conditions

Strong communicator inc good presentation skills both in writing, over the telephone and in presenting to groups of people at all levels

Able to secure a good understanding of a customers requirements (technical and commercial), including those that may not be written down and, working with others as necessary, able to formulate capture strategies addressing these and the Companys needs
Able to lead (without direct line authority), influence and co-ordinate the activities of internal groups including contracts, engineering etc in order to provide coherent and comprehensive proposals and sales opportunity follow up
Ability to quickly form and maintain working relationships both with customers and inside the Company
Energetic, persistent , self-motivated and patient in order to secure opportunities that may take several years turn into orders
Flexible and able to adopt different roles within the extended sales team
Diligent in maintaining records
Desirable:
Experienced in closing sales opportunities into confirmed purchase orders
Experience in working with overseas companies/agencies

Skilled and effective in the use of word processing, spreadsheet and presentation packages inc Microsoft Office
Able and willing to travel, sometimes at short notice, within the UK and overseas, typically 10-20 times per year for periods mainly for less than 1 week but with some longer visits as required.
