Description
AirTanker recently signed a prestigious contract with the UK Ministry of Defence for the provision of a full Air-to-Air Refuelling and Air Transport capability for the Royal Air Force.

A fleet of 14 new tanker aircraft based on the Airbus A330 - 200 will come into service from 2011.
We are currently in the exciting start up phase of this programme and need to appoint a Safety and Environment Manager who will be responsible for management of all aspects relating to Safety and Environment (including Health and Safety) across AirTanker Services including compliance with all regulatory and contractual requirements; this will include the establishment of a network of focal points for Safety and Environment across the company and the top level integration of these activities in the Flight Operations, Training, Ground operations and Maintenance areas.
In addition, in support of the company's sub-contract obligations to AirTanker Limited, to ensure that all statutory, regulatory and contractual requirements for Health, Safety & Environment are met, where applicable, for AirTanker Limited.
The successful candidate will be committed to the development of an organizational culture of continual improvement that embraces the standards prescribed for Quality Assurance, Health, Safety, Environment, Security, and Licenses.
A key responsibility will be the establishment of a Safety Management system to meet the requirements under AirTanker Services' Aviation Approvals, namely the Air Operators Certificate (AOC) and the Maintenance Organization's EASA Part 145.
The role will be to successfully establish and implement a Safety Management System (SMS), in accordance with the requirements of ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices and an Environmental Management System in compliance with ISO 14001:2004 addressing all governance requirements (required & self awarded) and standards as appropriate to the business and as necessary to meet contractual requirements and supporting successful achievement of them through performance setting, measurement and action. You will also need to develop the Safety Case for the Future Strategic Tanker Aircraft Service in accordance with the methodology in the Shell Aircraft Aviation Safety Management Guidelines.
We are currently based near Bristol but will be relocating to new facilities near RAF Brize Norton in October 2008.
